The Illinois College men's and women's swimming teams were topped by Coe College and Franklin College on Saturday in a double dual held in Franklin, Indiana. The IC men lost to Coe and Franklin by scores of 132-53 and 179-33, respectively. The Lady Blues lost by scores of 136-74 and 168-42.
Matthew Woodson was the only Illinois College representative to win an event as he topped the field in the 1-meter diving event with a score of 232.20. Wilson Webel (93.90) and
John Hoefert (91.70) took third and fourth, respectively. Brad Franke was second in the 100-yard freestyle (51.53) and third in the 200-yard freestyle (1:55.75).
Matthew Nelson was fifth in the 500-yard freestyle (6:32.00). The 200-yard medley relay team of
John Hoefert, Michael Hoefert, Franke and Nelson took fourth, in a time of 2:03.88.
Elisha Nelson posted the best individual finish among IC women, taking second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:12.62). She was also fourth in the 100-yard freestyle (58.65).
Audrey Brauer was third in the 100-yard backstroke (1:11.37) and fourth in the 50-yard freestyle (27.22).
Katia Swane-Barzowski was fourth in both the 200-yard freestyle (2:17.22) and 100-yard butterfly (1:10.55).
Taylor Brien was fourth in the 500-yard freestyle (6:22.18), just one spot ahead of
Kelsey Tucker (6:25.01).
Jordyn Perry was fifth in the 100-yard backstroke (1:19.62). The 200-yard medley relay team of Brien, Nelson, Swane-Barzowski and Brauer was third, in a time of 2:04.32.
The Blueboys and Lady Blues are back in action when they host Knox College, Millikin University and Principia College on November 9.
