Brandon Berry scored a team-high 21 points and
Isaac Grapperhaus swatted away a potential game-winning shot at the buzzer as Illinois College scored a 74-73 win over Lake Forest College Saturday in Jacksonville.
Illinois College led by as many as 16 points in the second half, but Lake Forest's Jeff Beck hit a 3-pointer with 30 seconds left to cut the Blueboys' lead to one point.
Nathan Kohler missed the front end of a one-and-one with 18 seconds left, giving the ball back to the visitors, but Grapperhaus blocked a 15-foot jumper from Beck as time expired.
Grapperhaus scored 19 points, while Kohler added 15. Berry had a team-leading five rebounds. Kohler had four assists. Grapperhaus had three blocks.
IC improved to 2-4 overall and 1-2 in Midwest Conference play with the win.
