Four Blueboys scored in double figures as the Illinois College men's basketball team opened the regular season with a 78-41 win over Blackburn College at the Bill Merris Tournament at Illinois College on Friday night.
Nathan Kohler scored a team-high 16 points, while also chipping in five rebounds and six assists.
Zeke Light scored 12 points off the bench,
Brandon Berry added 11 and
Quinton Hatfill tallied 10 more for the Blueboys. Kohler, Berry,
Isaac Grapperhaus and
Devin Frailey pulled down five rebounds each for IC. Kohler and
Spencer Campbell dished out six assists apiece. Grapperhaus added two blocks and two steals.
IC shot 43.5 percent from the field, while limiting Blackburn to a 32.1 percent mark on field goals.
IC improved to 1-0 with the win. The Blueboys will face the University of Dubuque, an 81-69 winner over Benedictine University in the early game Friday, at 4 p.m. Saturday. Blackburn and Benedictine will play for third place at 2 p.m.
