The Illinois College men's and women's swimming teams topped Principia College but lost to Franklin College in the teams' first competition of the season Saturday in Jacksonville.
The Blueboys topped Principia, 55-26, and fell to Franklin, 58-37, in the double dual. The Lady Blues beat Principia, 60-31, and lost to Franklin, 55-40.
The Blueboys got first-place performances from Jonah Macke-Booth (500-yard freestyle, 5:16.46) and Xander Benziger (100-yard breaststroke, 1:04.49). The 200-yard medley relay team (1:43.49) of Tom Deppe, Brad Franke, John Whitney and Benziger also took first, as did the 200-yard freestyle relay team (1:33.23) of Whitney, Deppe, Macke-Booth and Franke.
The Lady Blues scored a first-place finish with its 200-yard medley relay team (2:04.03) of Audrey Brauer, Elisha Nelson, Taylor Brien and Katia Swane-Barzowski.
The Blueboys and Lady Blues host Millikin University next Saturday at 1 p.m.
