Tyler Sheikh enters his first season as head coach of the Illinois College men's soccer team.
Sheikh comes to Illinois College after successful coaching stints at the high school, club, and collegiate levels. He played for the semi-professional team and academy, Palm Beach Pumas, before playing at Quinnipiac University.
He got his start in coaching in the high school ranks, serving as both an assistant and a head coach of boys' soccer and boys' tennis teams (2008-2011). He has also coached in the club ranks, as both an assistant and head coach (2008-2012). He most recently served as head coach of the men's and women's soccer teams at Mt. Aloysius College (2012-2013), where he was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Men's Soccer Coach of the Year in 2013. He led a turnaround of both programs which included the school's first-ever postseason appearance and first-ever postseason win in men's soccer.
Sheikh held additional roles including assistant athletic director and sports information director, and additional responsibilities including compliance and athletics marketing, at Mt. Aloysius. He also served as an adjunct professor, teaching courses in geography.
Sheikh resides in Jacksonville.
