Illinois College Athletics

Outstanding basketball and baseball player for Illinois College in 1936-37, Scheffler was voted All-Little 19 in both sports during those years before transferring and playing at the University of Kansas. He is a member of the Illinois High School Basketball Hall of Fame and officiated the State Basketball Finals in Champaign from 1958-61. Coached basketball and baseball at Springfield High School from 1947 until his retirement in 1956.
