Participated on the women’s tennis team at Illinois College for four years and served as captain. In 1939, she and Mary Alice Heflin won the Little 19 women’s tennis doubles championship. Also played intramural basketball for four years and taught riding from 1938-39. Won countless honors in equitation as a rider and instructor. From 1928 on, produced 22 National Equitation Championship winners. Only woman to be named “Trainer of the Year” by the United Professional Horsemen’s Association in 1979. She was also an author of equitation publications and was featured in numerous media.
