A three-sport athlete who excelled as a track man. He set the record for the 880-yard run of 2:04 which stood until 1936, and was also a member of the record-setting mile relay (3:38.40). That record stood until 1974. The Illinois College Memorial Track Award was initiated in 1976 in his honor.
